Each year it seems that hotels, amenities and rental cars get more and more expensive. Not to mention food prices! In the good old days you could stay at a nice place right on the beach for $10 or $15, grab a beer for a buck and have a nice meal for $3. Not any more!
Nowadays prices at the most popular beaches are much higher. As you travel around you have to find a good place to stay, and that is hard to do for less than $40 a night. Most good places at attractive areas charge from $70 - $90 per night during high season.
Costa Rica Campers offers you a way to save money and enjoy more of the country on your vacation. For less than you would spend on a hotel room and a rental car combined, you get a great way to see more of Costa Rica. Our guide maps will show you prime places to camp at all of Costa Rica's main attractions.
Beaches and rivers in Costa Rica are public, so in many cases you will be in a superior location compared to a cheap hotel room.
Our first camper is now available for rental. The 2007 weekly rate is $650 per week. This is less than you would spend each for a double room and 4x4 rental car, plus you can save a lot of money on meals by buying at local markets and preparing your own food.

February-March 2007
From February 18th to March 2nd we had our first clients, a family of 5 from Montreal, Canada. We met at the airport and went to a nearby shopping mall to go over the vehicle and take the deposit and rental fee. They were very pleased with the camper - "Very much what we expected based on the web site". They also felt that the manual and camper were well organized.
Dave and Donna from Vancouver rented the camper for the month of April. They went everywhere in Costa Rica - except the Caribbean Coast. They felt the camper was fully equipped (after purchasing a few minor items that they nicely left for future fellow campers) and that it served them well throughout their trip. One interesting fact is that the unusual design and the graphics on the camper helped them break the ice in each new area. People would come up and ask about the vehicle and even take pictures. This helped them feel at home and like they had friends around in case of any difficulty.

Next to the cabinet is the auxiliary battery compartment which allows you to run the fan and radio without worrying about diminishing the vehicles starting power. Carpet-less floor for low maintenance. | |
| 5 day marine cooler with 188 can capacity (120 quarts or 114 liters). The storage compartment below holds the Thetford 155s Porta-Potti and has room for additional gear or luggage. Otherwise it can be inflated with the 260 psi 12volt compressor, which also features an emergency flasher and flashlight. | |
| The first row front seat seats 3, or the middle backrest folds down to hold cold drink cans. There is a convenient map compartment. The reversible second row seat also seats 3 and has 6 seat belts, so it can be used for travel in either position. | |

In field tests, this camper has proven itself to be a reliable vehicle on the road and comfortable while camping. The size is very similar to the Volkswagen Westfalia campers available for rent in in Europe, Australia and the U.S. The 2500cc diesel engine was designed to haul 12 passengers, so the camper is actually overpowered with its configuration. You have plenty of power to pass slow moving vehicles on the highway and of course to get up and down Costa Rica's mountains.
While camping you have everything you need and we will provide you with detailed information as to where you can camp at popular tourist areas in Costa Rica. In our opinion this is the best way to explore Costa Rica because of the incredible freedom you will enjoy. Contact us today for more information or to reserve!

The Hyundai Grace is a great car for Costa Rica. The high ground clearance and strong suspension will handle the frequent gravel or rural road easily.

This is the top. In the conversion it was raised 75 cm, so a 6' 2" person (184 cm) can stand comfortably. The converted 12 passenger van can be driven by anyone with a valid license.

The Grace is comfortable to drive and handles similar to any large SUV on the road. Tilt wheel, dual A/C and seating for 6 make your trip a pleasant one.

Just imagine parking on the beach or by a pristine river and enjoying Costa Rica's spectacular natural beauty while having all the conveniences right at your fingertips. Awesome!

Spacious on the inside too. The conversion has features that will allow you to camp comfortably on the beach, in the jungle or by the road. No hookups for water or electricity are necessary.

IIn January 2007 we took our first camper for a trial run to Playa Bejuco, on Costa Rica's Central Pacific Coast.

The trip was very enjoyable and comfortable. We were able to camp directly on the beach in front of a vacant lot and a beach shack that no one was using. The camper was very secure, all of the equipment functioned as planned and the vehicle performed very well on the road.
