We have discontinued rental of the camper, due the damage done mechanically to the camper by the last few renters. The camper is now for sale at a price of $12,000
In January 2007 we took our first camper for a trial run to Playa Bejuco, on Costa Rica's Central Pacific Coast.

The trip was very enjoyable and comfortable. We were able to camp directly on the beach in front of a vacant lot and a beach shack that no one was using. The camper was very secure, all of the equipment functioned as planned and the vehicle performed very well on the road.

Each year it seems that hotels, amenities and rental cars get more and more expensive. Not to mention food prices! In the good old days you could stay at a nice place right on the beach for $10 or $15, grab a beer for a buck and have a nice meal for $3. Not any more!
Nowadays prices at the most popular beaches are much higher. As you travel around you have to find a good place to stay, and that is hard to do for less than $40 a night. Most good places at attractive areas charge from $70 - $90 per night during high season.
Costa Rica Campers offers you a way to save money and enjoy more of the country on your vacation. For less than you would spend on a hotel room and a rental car combined, you get a great way to see more of Costa Rica. Our guide maps will show you prime places to camp at all of Costa Rica's main attractions.
Beaches and rivers in Costa Rica are public, so in many cases you will be in a superior location compared to a cheap hotel room.
The camper is now for sale, priced at $12,000.

You are in a self contained vehicle, so you may camp in some places that backpackers may not. In Costa Rica rivers, beaches and thoroughfares are public. You may camp there. The only exception is on some beaches with luxury hotels there are designated camping areas, so on these beaches you must use those areas. In many tourist areas there are private campgrounds. Often they are a little rough around the edges, but you will find prices reasonable and also some people like the safety factor of campgrounds. You will find sinks for dish washing, showers (cold – for hot climates) and bathrooms.
Many Parks have camping spots, and the rangers will normally let camper vans use the parking lot if there is no spot or the campground must be accessed on foot. Don't be afraid to ask. Check your guide book and tourist information booths for camping areas in any tourist town. Some hotels offer spots for campers too. MINAE is responsible for the national parks and can tell you if camping is available. Their number is 2283-8004.
